Stand with Striking Refinery Workers

SEND AN EMAIL TO STAND WITH STRIKING REFINERY WORKERS & SAFE WORKING CONDITIONS

(it takes 2 clicks!)

Workers affiliated with Teamsters Local 283 are on strike for better pay and safe working conditions at Marathon Petroleum’s Detroit refinery. Marathon Petroleum’s response? Hiring temporary workers at double the pay with a severely inadequate level of training.

Workers with more than 2 years of experience are required to hold high-pressure licenses. Although these temporary hires are working under licensed engineers, the absence of properly credentialed and trained staff creates serious safety risks. Workers on strike were trained for 1 year initially, and the vast majority hold high-pressure licenses. Now, almost everyone is working without a license, not just a few new people.

By clicking the link above, you'll be sending an email to Michigan Governor Whitmer’s Office, Detroit Mayor Duggan’s office, and Detroit City Council members urging them to address the safety concerns of Marathon’s Detroit Refinery.Thank you for taking action to protect workers and Teamsters Local 283.
